Iconic Downtown Des Moines Wedding Portraits

I was headed up to Iowa to pick up my new medium format camera, so I decided to make a trip out of it. I was lucky to meet Anna and Mitch through a mutual friend, and we got together to create some classic Des Moines wedding portraits while I was passing through town! I searched for European inspired architecture and iconic backdrops (in Iowa?!), and what better spot is there than the Capitol area. I loved the unique neoclassical style the Statehouse has, a little different than a lot of other capitols with the all white building (don’t get me wrong, I LOVE those too!). Anna and Mitch is such a lovely couple, it was such a joy working with them! The minimal and modern gown suited Anna absolutely perfectly, and the bouquet by Honoring Yours added a touch of whimsy and color to the photos.
