Are You Newly Engaged? Read This (and Congratulations!)
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably just gotten ENGAGED! Biggest congratulations to you from Annie Lui Photography, it’s such a joyous time! Now that the excitement has settled in just a little, you’re probably wondering, what next? This blog will hopefully give you a head start on that.
First of all, please take the time to enjoy this time as fiancé and fiancée! It’s such a special time to soak in with your loved ones, go celebrate your engagement a little more – wedding planning can wait. The chaos of wedding planning can begin whenever you’re ready.
Before even looking for vendors, sit down with your partner and write out the non-negotiables, the vision you both may have, and imagine together how the day would go. It’s so important to be aligned one what you want on your wedding day and have a very rough idea of what kind of vendors you want to look for – there are a lot of us out there! Are you wanting a traditional wedding, intimate wedding, or elopement? Are you wanting something classic, modern, vibrant, nerdy, or a mixture of some of them? What about the location – do you want to have a local celebration or a destination wedding? There are many basic questions to be asked before narrowing down your potential list of vendors and officially start the planning stage.
Once you have a rough idea, it’s time to reach out to wedding planners, venues and photographers. These are, in my opinion, the most important vendors to have as you begin your planning journey. As you work with your wedding planner, you will be able to establish your wedding budget and continue your search for all other vendors.
