How to Plan for Photos on your Wedding Day
When the wedding day comes and goes, the only things left are your memories and photographs. As a wedding photographer, I understand the importance and necessity to have wedding photos that stand the test of time. The kind of photographs that you can look back 50 years from now and remember exactly how your felt. In this article, we’ll dive into a few different ways where we, as a team, can create the most stunning and genuine collection of images for you.
Did you know that a lot of photographers will create a separate photo timeline? There are a few good reasons why we do it, the main one being we want to make sure that we have enough time to capture each portion of the day. The photo timeline may even affect your existing timeline, which is why often times, your photographer will collaborate with your planner or you to create this timeline, so there are no surprises. An experienced wedding photographer will know exactly how to maximize your photo opportunities without compromising the day. Let your photographer know what photos you prioritize, so we can plan accordingly. It’s important to have breaks in between shooting, as well as enough buffer space so that if things inevitably run behind, we are still able to catch up.
Outside of photography timeline, the location and lighting is what makes or breaks the images. As a photographer, our eyes are trained to seek out beautiful spaces and natural light. We are also trained technically to compensate for lighting with artificial lights when we need to. With that being said, you have a big decision to make, often times before hiring your photographer, and that is finding your dream venue. A venue with an abundance of natural light and neutral walls will provide the perfect canvas to create these photos.

Be open to location suggestions – we only have your best interest in mind and want to create captivating images for you to keep. Another point I like to bring up is candid photos. When interacting with your partner, loved ones and guests, remember to smile and don’t avoid the camera! So many people are naturally camera shy, but I promise you that only the best photos will be included in your gallery, and when your day is filled to the brim with joy and laughter, I guarantee they’ll be stunning!
